​Introduction
As part of Baby Safety Month in February 2025, the Infant & Nursery Products Alliance of Australia (INPAA) is announcing industry awards that showcase innovative products, services and community programs that provide excellence in safety and injury prevention.


Eligibility
The competition welcomes entries from infant product suppliers, service providers and community groups. It is open to INPAA members and non-members.


We also strongly encourage community groups, not-for-profit organisations, and government entities to showcase their initiatives by applying for the Community Safety Program category.

Award Categories
 

1. Innovation and Safety
 

Eligibility for awards is limited to new products being introduced within the next 12 months or that were launched on or after 1st July 2023. Prototypes are welcome for submission. Please note that products previously available, now being re-released with a new colour or updated packaging, do not qualify.
 

Requirements


✅ Does it showcase a fresh and innovative concept or feature?
✅ Does it enhance safety with additional features?
✅ Could it inspire the design of future products?
✅ Is it thoughtfully designed for practical and everyday use?
✅ Are the marketing claims supported by credible research?
✅ Does it have strong potential for market success?
✅ Are current test certificates available to validate its quality?

 

The Innovation awards may be presented for multiple categories. Suppliers applying for this award must nominate which of the following market sector applies:


✅ On the Go Products (e.g. prams, play pen, folding cots, travel accessories)
✅ Child Restraint Systems
✅ Safety Products

✅ Sleep Products
✅ Technology
✅ Children’s Furniture
✅ Service

​​​2. Tried & True
This category celebrates the enduring success of products and services launched on or after 1st January 2020.
What we’re looking for:

 

✅ Has the product or service elevated safety outcomes in its category?
✅ Did it introduce groundbreaking safety design features at launch?
✅ Has it inspired innovation among competitors?
✅ Does it continue to achieve strong sales?
✅ How have consumers embraced and appreciated the product?

 

Awards in this category may be presented across multiple sectors.
 

Eligibility
Suppliers entering this category must nominate one of the following sectors:
✅ On the Go Products (eg prams, play pen, folding cots, travel accessories)
✅ Child Restraint Systems
✅ Safety Products

✅ Sleep Products
✅ Technology
✅ Children’s Furniture
✅ Service

​3. Environment and Sustainability Award
This category celebrates organizations and products championing environmental sustainability within the infant and nursery industry.

 

Awards Available

  • Enterprise-Based Award: For companies making significant sustainability progress in their operations.

  • Product-Based Award: Recognizing products that lead the way in sustainable solutions.


Option 1 – Enterprise Based Award
Showcase your commitment to sustainability by demonstrating:


✅ Efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
✅ Assessment and management of sustainability risks.
✅ Efficient energy, water, and waste management.
✅ Thoughtful supplier selection to support sustainability goals.

 

Option 2 – Product Based Award

Highlight how your product promotes sustainability through:


✅ Content: Use of recycled, renewable, or plastic waste materials.
✅ Reuse and Redeployment: Contribution to the circular economy, enabling reuse or repurposing after its lifecycle.
✅ Design: Environmental considerations in design, such as durability, modularity, and full lifecycle management.
✅ Carbon Footprint: Strategies to limit carbon emissions during production, backed by carbon accounting and sustainability commitments.
✅ Packaging: Innovations to reduce waste and minimise plastic usage.

 

Eligible products may be new or already in the market, with one entry allowed per business

​4. Community Safety Programs
This award celebrates excellence in programs that deliver outcomes that enhance infant/young child safety for communities, driven by community groups, not-for-profits, and government organizations.

 

Eligibility
Programs must have commenced after 1st July 2023 and focus on achieving impactful results in state, regional, or national settings.

 

Judging Criteria
✅ Does the program achieve measurable safety improvements for participants?
✅ Can the program be scaled to reach a broader audience?
✅ Is it making a meaningful difference in the community?
✅ Does it showcase innovation in its delivery?
✅ Is it accessible to participants across all socio-economic levels?

Judging
Each product will be judged by an independent panel of highly regarded experts drawn from industry and stakeholders within the Australian nursery industry.

How to Enter
To enter the INPAA INNOVATION AND SAFETY AWARDS 2025, simply complete the official entry in full by 21st January 2025.

If applying in multiple categories, you need to complete an application form for each entry.

Application Fee

  • INPAA Members: $250 + GST per category 

  • Non INPAA Members: $400 + GST per category

  • Community Groups, Not-For-Profit Organisations and Government Departments: No Charge

An invoice will be emailed on acceptance of your appliction submission.

Note: This is an application fee and is non-refundable. All entries must be received by 21st January 2025 to be considered.
 

If applying in multiple categories, you need to complete an application form for each entry. An application fee is required for each separate entry.

Award winners will be announced at an INPAA Conference to be held on 25th February 2025.
 

The product description accompanying the entry form should not be a sales advertisement, but rather explain what makes your product innovative and above the rest! This is very important as the judges will rely on this information to make their
decision.

 

Please do not submit duplicate forms for the same product unless submitting in multiple categories. If changes need to be made to any portion of your entry form after you submitted and before 21st January 2025, email tim@inpaa.com.au directly.
 

All your product information and photos will be circulated to the judging committee. Judging will be completed virtually.


Finalists will be announced on 12th February 2025.

Intellectual Property Rights & Originality
The Award candidate must own or have been granted permission to use all intellectual property rights for the submitted product or service. No submitted product or service shall infringe upon any other party’s intellectual property rights. Court Orders involving infringement of intellectual property rights, the originality or lack of originality of a product submission can provide grounds to invalidate award consideration or granting. A further qualification of an award can be required verification that the product or service submission is not in breach of this representation or is not subject to such orders. If a product submission is subject to any mandatory safety requirement, a copy of applicable test reports validating compliance may be required.
